NORMASS

Nordic Cooperation on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships

NORMASS Workshop 4th and 5th of March at USN Campus Vestfold

In the spirit of the nordic tradition of cooperation and peaceful relations Chalmers University ofTechnology, Novia University of Applied Sciences, Svendborg International Maritime Academy - SIMAC, and the University of South-Eastern Norway join forces in a strategic alliance. Together, we're pioneering academic collaborations that explore new horizons in teaching, research, and simulation technology dedicated to Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS).

At the heart of our collaboration lies a shared vision to advance the fields of MASS operation and management. We're committed to fostering cooperation that extends to exploring and promoting advancements in MASS technology. Our collective goals include establishing a harmonized Nordic policy for the training of Remote Operation Center (ROC) Operators and Technicians, developing innovative training programs, and conducting research to understand the technological, commercial, and operational impacts of MASS.

To ensure seamless collaboration, our organizational structure involves a dynamic rotation of responsibilities. Every six months, one of our institutions takes the lead in coordinating our initiatives and hosting a biannual conference. During this period, the other partners manage specialized workgroups focusing on teaching, research, and simulation technology. This collaborative model allows us to continually innovate and present our findings at our conferences.
